From the Spring Mountain District of Napa Valley, this is an impressive vertical of three vintages of the same wine. each vintage is at least 80% Cabernet Sauvignon with the remainder being Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Even the early vintages display an element of youthfulness while still delivering extraordinary structure and impressive dark fruit.

La Grand'Ribe Côtes-du-Rhône Villages 2009 $10/36
Lots of kirsch, garrigue, lavender, and pepper notes as well as a big, full-bodied, dense, quintessentially Provençal style. Just now coming into elegant maturity. (WA 90)

Honoro Vera Garnacha 2013 $6.50/22
Offers aromas of spicy red and black fruit, black pepper and sweet spice and savory notes. On the palate, taste layers of juicy plum, dried cherry, blackberry and cassis with a slightly brambly character and hints of cocoa and leather.

Ferrer Bobet Vinyes Velles 2009 $75
The 2009 Vinyes Velles is a blend of two-thirds Carinena and one-third Garnacha. It is bestowed with a glorious, floral bouquet with very pure scents of cassis, blueberry and violets. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins. It is taut on the entry, quite linear and then fans out nicely with sappy dark berry, cassis and allspice. (92 WA)

100% tempranillo. Natural bouquet of dark berries, burnt toast, and singed leather. The palate is very well-balanced, with lithe tannins that caress the mouth. The oak is seamlessly integrated towards the lingering, supple finish. (91 WA)

This Super Tuscan is the perfect overachiever. It offers up lovely, bright acidity that adds freshness and focus on the palate along with hints of mocha, a deep cherry and red berry core, and a wonderfully silky finish of plum.

Vinchio-Vaglio Serra "Le Nocche" Grignolino d'Asti 2011 $36
Light ruby-red color with orange overtones, it has a light and floral bouquet. The taste is dry, slightly tannic, bitter and long-lasting. Pairs wonderfully with charcuterie.

Michele Chiarlo “Reyna” Barbaresco 2007 $55
Redcurrant, tobacco, underbrush, and marzipan on the nose, plus a hint of Orange Pekoe tea. Supple and savory in the mouth, with flavors similar to the aromas. (91 WS, 91 RP)

Damilano Barolo “Lecinquevigne” 2008 $60
Deep, ruby red with orange hues. Intense with tertiary notes of rose, leather, tobacco and subtle hints of violet. Ample and embracing with prevailing impressions of a persistent finish.

Allegrini Palazzo della Torre 2007 $45.50
Produced using the ripasso method. It has a delicious wild berry perfume, with flavor of raisins. The grapes Corvina, Rondinella, and Sangiovese follow two different paths: 70% of the grapes are vinified immediately after the harvest, the remaining percentage is dried until the end of December. At this point, the wine ferments again with the dried grapes.

An easy drinking fruity red wine made solely from the Agiorgitiko grape. It is medium bodied, soft tannins and well balanced with fruit and nut aromas and flavors.

Bold and seductive, this youthful, unoaked blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro (Mourvedre) encapsulates all that is great in natural, pure, unseasoned wine. Ripe juicy flavors of blackberry, spiced cherries, minerals and Asian spices wrapped around a skeleton of fresh acidity and fine mineral laden tannins.
